The East Tennessee Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council celebrated the achievements of outstanding individuals and companies working in the local green building community at the 4th Annual Green Light Awards Ceremony on January 20, 2015, at The Square Room in Knoxville, TN.
The Green Light Award, the chapter’s most prestigious award, went to Keurig Green Mountain, Inc., in recognition of their tireless efforts at the interface of sustainability, business, and the community. The chapter’s other most prestigious award, The Green Leader Award, went to Ken Block in recognition of his inspiring work promoting sustainable building practices in the local region.
The following three projects were awarded Green Project Awards in recognition of their sustainable design, construction and/or operation: The offices of BARBERMcMurry Architects (client: BARBERMcMURRY architects, architects: BARBERMcMURRY architects, general contractors: BARBERMcMURRY architects, consultants: Facility Systems Consultants, Mallia Engineering), the Tellico Village Public Library (client: Friends of the Tellico Village Library, architects: Smee + Busby Architects, landscape architect: Carol R. Johnson Associates, general contractors: Wilson Construction, consultants: Facility Systems Consultants, Bender & Associates, Will Robinson & Associates), and the Lonsdale LEEDv4 Infill Houses (client: Knox Housing Partnership, architects: Elizabeth Eason Architecture LLC, general contractors: Citywide Development, consultants: Facility Systems Consultants).
The following five individuals were awarded Volunteer Excellence Awards for their service to the chapter this past year: Rodney Calvin, Megan Paris, Ana Richters, and Monica Verastegui.
The Weatherization Leadership Award went to Bruce Glanville, in recognition of his unparalleled efforts during the chapter’s Weatherization Month events, including organizing the annual Weatherization Day in October.
The Organizational Excellence Award was given to Glenn Richters for his tireless leadership and advocacy for the chapter within the local region and beyond.
